When trying to move my rec of Sandcastle Girls and Alice's response to this page, I lost it! One reason I liked it was that one of the lead characters was a MHC alum. So now Steph will post her response after reading it...

This book by Chris Bohjalian is well worth reading.   Be advised that some of the scenes described are very difficult to read because of the topic.  (Armenian Genocide).

The book is extremely well-written and a moving story.

I've bought the book. Next read. I'm finishing "The Righteous of the Armenian Genocide" now. What a legacy to live with if you are froman Armenian family. I was disturbed to hear that equipment are being sold by Germany to the Armenian state in large quantites and are really bound for Russia ( from Romano Prodi during his recent lecture this week at the Center for European Studies at Harvard.) I'm afraid that the Armenian government is being controlled externally.
