From Judy Williams Irving:

It is with great sadness that I share with the class that my roommate, Jeanne Crickenberger Turkel, died on May 21, 2021 arising from complications from a serious automobile accident on April 30, 2021.  Jeanne and I were among the 15 members of our class housed at Sycamores freshman year.  Sopohomore year we shared a triple with Edie Dulles and the last 2 years roomed together.  Jeanne might have been the youngest member of our class, born January 26, 1943.  Following her graduation from MHC, she went on to get a master's degree from Columbia and later a music degree from Manhattaville School of Music.  Married to William C. Turkel 54 years ago, the couple lived in different parts of the world due to Bill's job.  They returned to the USA when their 2 sons were in high school and settled in Darien, Connecticut.  Among Jeanne's many persuits, she greatly enjoyed teaching piano lessons and eventually had a Pilates studio in her home.  In addition to her husband and two sons, she also leaves two daughter's-in-law and 3 grandchildren.

There is an obituary in the Darien Times that gives information about sending condolences and honoring Jeanne.  Her husband, William (Bill) Turkel, lives in their home at 12 McCrea Lane, Darien, CT 06820.

From Edie—

Jeanne was fluent in Spanish. We shared a love for the language.
She was enthusiastic about her interests, and taught me "scientific" terms, the funniest of which was "meniscus". At meals on the 2 long tables at Sycamores, we all tried to create a meniscus on our water glasses.

I picture Jeanne on her bicycle riding quickly the almost one mile from Sycamores to classes.

Recently, she, Judy Williams and I shared personal thoughts, and grew close. I miss Jeanne. She was bold and real. I hope she's at peace, and to Bill and Jeanne's family, may you share her peace.

Edie

From Judy Mitton Miles--
I am so very sad to hear about Jeanne's passing. Jeanne was one of the "good guys" of our world, always coming down on the kind and charitable side in any discussion. Wish I could let her know how much she meant to me and of course to all of us in Sycamores. Judy
