Mary was my friend all through college and my roomate senior year.  She was a chem major who longed to do theology studies. One of her older sisters, Polly, was also an MHC grad. When her boyfriend, Charles Olson, took a year's leave of absence from UC Berkeley to decide what he really wanted to major in, he was drafted and when it became clear he would be sent immediately to Vietnam, they married in February of our senior year. He returned via Fort Ord, and so they settled in California, eventually in the Bay area, and had two girls, Lindsey and Jenny. Charlie finished at Berkeley and Mary put her chemistry to good use at the Richmond Refinery.  Charlie secured a job at Wood's Hole in Marine chemistry and they were excitedly planning to move back east. Mary was going to return to school and study theology. She was also pregnant with their son.  In January 1969, she suffered a severe asthma attack and she and the baby both died in the ICU. Charlie and the girls moved back east with her ashes, which we scattered on the outer shore of the Cape. Mary was a warn and wonderful friend and I still miss her.   Libby Short
